Strengthening Partnerships: CEM–QFC Meeting Sparks New Great Lakes Collaboration
Staff from the Quantitative Fisheries Center (QFC) and Centre for Ecosystem Management (CEM) recently came together for their annual meeting set against the lush green backdrop of the Arboretum Centre (University of Guelph), which sparked an engaging exchange of ideas between researchers and strengthened collaborative ties. The discussion centered on opportunities for joint research and even laid the groundwork for a grant proposal focused on advancing our understanding of whitefish indicators and early warning signals in the Great Lakes.
A highlight of the meeting was a series of presentations by postdoctoral fellows from both centres, who shared insights into their ongoing research projects. Their talks showcased the innovative approaches and fresh perspectives driving new discoveries, and helped identify exciting points of connection between teams.
The meeting concluded with a strong sense of momentum and shared purpose, as both groups look ahead to deepening collaboration and working together to tackle key issues facing the Great Lakes.
